Aquanisma: The Wonder of Water

NOTL Arts Collective member Ron Clavier’s water paintings offer tranquility and peace, but also power and mystery. According to Ron, when water (seen as female in various mythologies) is partnered with earth (seen as male), a special sort of intimacy is created. The course of the water is altered and inhibited by earth; but water always finds a way to continue its journey. Meanwhile, the earth is smoothed and polished by water. They are in constant contact with each other, endlessly nourishing each other. Water also encourages human reflection, which allows us to challenge our fixed interpretations, unlocking insights that foster personal growth. This exhibition features over 20 of Clavier’s original oil paintings with water as the featured element. The paintings have received critical acclaim, including the following from Toronto appraiser Roger Bywater: “My guess if the artist were to get taken on by a dealer of note then the value for his works would rise exponentially. His water studies in particular show a level of competency and complexity that can easily hold its own with anything that is currently exhibited within any top-level private gallery across Canada.”
